Biography |
Gabrielle is a freelance Casting Director with 26 years’ experience and has run her own business – Gabrielle Dawes Casting – since 2006. In addition, Gabrielle was Associate for Casting at Chichester Festival Theatre (2006-2016), Bath Theatre Royal summer seasons (2017 & 2018), and at Salisbury Playhouse (2018-2024), while at the same time casting for a very wide range of commercial and subsidised theatres and producers in London’s West End and across the UK. Gabrielle is equally at home casting for top-line, very established directors as she is working with emerging directing talent; and has cast every scripted genre, including Shakespeare and classical plays, Musical Theatre, contemporary drama, new writing, adaptations and comedy (please see CV, attached). Gabrielle’s knowledge of actors is vast; and responds equally strongly to the commercial demands on productions as well as the highest demands for quality across any cast, at the same time as bringing through emerging acting talent. Gabrielle works with drama schools, as a visiting professional, advising actors on best practice in the profession, audition technique, scene preparation, and helping to make the casting process feel more accessible.
